The grand re-opening of the Marina Bay Sands Patek Philippe Boutique gave much reason for revelry and cheer. Themed “Festive Elegance”, the exclusive event brought a small group of timepiece connoisseurs, aficionados and collectors together, who were decked in a gamut of colours, dressed with statement pieces as well as in glamourous and sophisticated styles.

The boutique is jointly managed by Patek Philippe and Cortina Watch, ran by Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern and Cortina Watch Deputy Chairman and Deputy Chief Executive Raymond Lim, and Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Lim. Marking 40 years of collaboration between Cortina Watch and Patek Philippe this year, the re-opening of the newly renovated boutique further attests to their deep-rooted ties.

Warm interiors greeted guests at the event, with a delicate balance of classic dark wood, gentle neutral tones and touches of grandiose, exuding a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The immaculate space featured an impressive showcase of Patek Philippe timepieces, a hallmark of horological finesse, excellence and culture; and exhibited a wall displaying Patek Philippe’s historic milestones.
2016 also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the advertising campaign on “Generations”, which is famous for its tagline “You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation.” Patek Philippe places high significance on “Generations”, lining some walls with monochrome portraits immortalising a cherished moment shared between generations, and a symbol of heritage and tradition. Among the collection, I was honoured to have one of the portraits of myself and my daughter, bearing testament to the strong and intimate bond we share.

Following the re-opening of the boutique, we were invited to dinner at Spago Singapore. The restaurant served up a delectable selection of food, including tuna tatare cones drizzled with chilli aioli and bonito, roasted Italian chestnut agnolotti with shaved French black truffles, and salted caramel soufflé with Fuji apple sorbet. The intimate ambience and rich festive colours led to deep and intriguing conversations which left me extremely fascinated and enthralled.
